Netherlands has few women in top positions
Women in the Netherlands occupy 19 percent of top positions in organizations, which is little according to international standard.
The report by Mercer is based on research among 5321 organizations in over 30 countries. The division between men and women at the top is still strong in Europe. For example, 71% of director functions and management positions are filled by men and thus only 29 percent by women.
In the Netherlands, it is mainly due to the high percentage of women working part-time. With a part-time function, one can hardly reach the top.
In the former Soviet, most women are at the top positions. For example, 44% of the tops in Lithuania are women and 43% in Bulgaria are women. Russia is in the third place. There is 40 percent of the administrative and management positions taken by women.
