EOD workers injured by explosive speed camera

A worker of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) was seriously injured when an explosive at a speed camera was detonated. Another EOD worker and a technical detective of the police were slightly injured, according to the police.

The condition of the wounded is stable.

Around 3:30, the police received a report from someone who had seen something strange hanging on the pole at the intersection of Voorschoterweg and Leidseweg. The EOD was called. It turned out to be a self-made explosive. During the disposal, it exploded at 7:30.

The wounded workers were sent to LUMC in Leiden. The intersection was closed for investigation. Police have no idea who placed the explosive so far.
