According to the RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment), Dutch food is still unhealthy. Research shows that Dutch people ate too few fruits, vegetables and fish and also not enough fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Only 2 percent of Children eat enough fruits, according to the RIVM. For adults, it is 14 percent. The fruit consumption is below recommended levels: Less than one quarter of the Dutch eat enough fruits. Another recommendation is to eat fish twice a week, however, most of people also missed that.

RIVM suggest that healthy food is important, not only to avoid obesity but also to combat cardiovascular disease. If everyone eats enough healthy food, that would be 7000 less deaths annually.
