Bridge over Ijssel near Zwolle being demolished

Commissioned by ProRail, the demolition of the old railway bridge over the Ijssel between Zwolle and Hattem started on Monday.

The oldest parts of the bridge date back to 1864. The steel part of the bridge will be removed in the coming weeks. Due to the Hanze line, the new track between Zwolle and Lelystad, a new bridge was needed.

The shipping will be obstructed until the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. Later, there will also be traffic stoppages, according to a spokesman. The demolition will take about 6 weeks if everything goes well.
