Separate classes for boys and girls

Schools need to experiment with separate classes for boys and girls, according to Wim Kuiper from the controlling board.

His association represents the interests of Christian education in the Netherlands.

According to Kuiper, research shows that there are different patterns in the development of the brains of boys and girls, mostly between the ages of 12-16 years old. “During puberty, boys are two years behind girls in the brain development. You have to take that into account in education through appropriate courses,” says Kuiper.

For example, a language course can be given separately. “girls are usually better in language. ” Reversely, it is also true for mathematics and spatial skills in boys, because it often develops faster than that in girls.

The classes will not be completely separated, according to Kuiper, but only in certain classes and for a few hours.
