Prices of bakers’ bread rise faster than in supermarket

Bread and pastries from the bakery are over 22 percent more expensive during the past 5 years, which is more than twice as much as similar products in the supermarket. This is evident from figures published by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
The meat from the butcher also became more expensive compared with that in the supermarket between 2006 and 2011. The prices of butchers’ meat went up by 13.6 percent on average, in the supermarkets it was 4.4 percent. Also fresh vegetables, potatoes and fresh fruit are more expensive from a specialist business. The growing rate of the price is 11.6 percent.
